PRODUCT CARE

JEWELRY CARE:

Our jewelry styles vary in quality of metals from Gold Filled, Gold Plated and Sterling Silver. We suggest viewing our product care guide below to increase the longevity of your jewelry items.

In order to care for your jewelry, we suggest avoiding wearing your jewelry when cleaning, swimming or showering. Avoid spraying perfume or using cosmetics, moisturizers and hair products directly onto or near your jewelry. In order to clean our jewelry, simply use a jewelry cloth to gently polish to bring back a shine and remove any tarnish. Take care not to over polish plated jewelry as you may remove the plating. Any plated metals will react with chemicals and can cause jewelry to tarnish.

Please note that all metals oxidize naturally with time and will require maintenance.

CLOTHING CARE:

The Maple and Sun pieces sustainably made and ethically sourced, we ask you to please take care of these pieces when washing.

We recommend you to hand wash or machine wash cold (on delicate setting), separately and with like colors. Use a mild or eco friendly detergent when washing to make it possible for the good appearance of your Maple and Sun clothing pieces to last the longest. Another way to help keep the outward appearance of your Maple and Sun clothing pieces is to turn them inside out when in the wash and when leaving out to dry.

Do not bleach your pieces. Heavy chemicals and detergents can strip the color-fast of your garment.

Squeeze out excess water from the clothing but do not wring out the items, as this will cause wrinkling. Air dry or line dry in the shade only. Leaving your items in direct sunlight may cause color fading.

Please do not tumble dry to avoid shrinking and the material losing its quality.

Slight variations on our Mother of Pearl buttons are inherent in the methods and natural materials used. These are not product flaws but are considered minor distinctions that make this piece special and one-of-a-kind.

BAG CARE:

Keep your Maple and Sun bags clean and long lasting by storing them in their dust bags when not in use. Stuff the bag with fillers so they maintain their shape and reduce the chances of the leather wrinkling.

Remove stains by dipping a white cloth into soap and water (use mild, non-bleaching soap). Wring the water out of your cloth until its damp, not soaked. If the rag is super wet, the item with soak up the excess water and create a permanent stain.

We prefer our bags with a well-loved look, but you can spot-clean yours with canvas cleaner as needed. Get in touch for specific recommendations.

HOMEWARE CARE:

When cleaning our natural homeware pieces (i.e. buri/raffia placemats and the like), dip a white cloth into soap and water (use mild, non-bleaching soap). Wring the water out of your cloth until its damp, not soaked. If the rag is super wet, the item with soak up the excess water and create a permanent stain.

When cleaning our Mother of Pearl homeware pieces, be gentle as the natural material is delicate and will scratch if mishandled. Clean after using with a soft sponge or microfiber cloth. Do not put the items in the dishwasher.

When cleaning our wooden homeware pieces, use warm water, a mild soap, and a soft sponge. Do not submerge your pieces in water, as it will cause them to crack and swell. Dry them immediately with a dishtowel. Allow to air dry the item overnight to get rid of all other moisture.
