5 Tips I Want You To Know Before Your Baby Arrives

It brings me so much joy that I get to share my another part of myself with you all! Everyone, welcome to the Maple + Sun blog! I can’t wait to share my thoughts and experiences on motherhood, running a business, and so much more! Let’s build a community – one where we could all listen and hear each other out.
I’m almost at the last stretch of my pregnancy! This journey has been so surreal and it's just the beginning! Though I must say, I'm feeling quite tired and sleepy all the time. It's as if I can sleep at any time of the day! Haha! So, from one very preggy mama to another, I'd like to share 5 tips I want you to know before your baby arrives!
GET YOUR PHONE READY
Clean out your phone and organize your pictures. You've got to make room for your soon-to-be newborn's arrival – that'll be a ton of pictures! Also, I would suggest downloading the app "1 Second Everyday: Video Diary" which is a great way to track your newborn's growth through their first year!
INVENTORY OF BABY'S CLOTHES AND BELONGINGS
For those who know me well, you know that I love to make lists!! This keeps me organized and avoids me from making redundant purchases for the little bub.
DISCUSS PLANS & EXPECTATIONS W/ YOUR PARTNER
Moms experience SO MUCH change within them physically, emotionally, and mentally. What kind of support do you need? Is your partner aware of the "baby blues" you may experience? How hands-on do you want him to be with the baby? It's very important that you and your partner are in sync on certain topics even before the baby arrives.
FED IS BEST
Contrary to popular belief, breastfeeding isn’t as easy as it seems. I never knew how difficult it actually was until it happened to me with my firstborn. I definitely pushed through it and managed to breastfeed him for about 2 years. Now, I want you to know mama that whatever happens – whether you get to breastfeed your baby or not – IT’S OKAY. Don’t stress too much about it. Just know that fed is best.

DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHER MOMS
Be kind to yourself. We are all unique in our own motherhood journeys. Not one baby is alike. Not one mom is alike. Don’t beat yourself up for not being like that mom on instagram.Even as an experienced mom, I know I’ll have hiccups along the journey of my second child and that’s okay. We all mess up sometimes, we aren’t perfect. We are all doing the best we can and that’s the most important thing.

Now that that’s settled, I’m going to enjoy a little nap as a reward for getting this post done before I actually fall sleep. Haha!

To you, mama. Stay brave, stay beautiful. Congratulations, on your little one! They are blessed to have you.

Love,
Mabel
